Academic Accommodations

Students who wish to add or change an approved accommodation should initiate the request either with their Accommodations Coordinator or with the SDS Director.

Students who have been denied an accommodation by an instructor, or had an accommodation inappropriately provided, may choose to begin by notifying SDS directly for assistance. If a student chooses to notify us regarding an accommodation problem we can intervene on the student’s behalf, or we can provide coaching if a student wishes to speak with the instructor directly.  SDS may also seek resolution of the concern by contacting other appropriate individuals on campus including the Office of the Ombudsperson, the Instructor's Course Supervisor, the Instructor's Department Chair, or the ADA Coordinator.

At any point a student may contact the University ADA Coordinator directly for information regarding filing an informal or formal complaint.

If a student's complaint or grievance involves SDS or a decision SDS has reached the student may choose to notify their Accommodations Coordinator or the SDS Director of their concern.  Students may also share their concern directly with the Office of the Ombudsperson (for informal resolution) or directly with the ADA Coordinator to initiate formal or informal action.
