Student Disability Services Research Fellowship

The fellow will conduct asset mapping for accessible and disability resources at the University of Iowa. This proposal for research relies on the Asset-Based Community Development model (ABCD) for collecting data and providing a formative review. The fellow will identify and log existing and active assets and programs on campus, beginning with compliance standards and highlighting how the institution builds progressive initiatives to assure requirements are met and considered. The fellow will participate in a literature review, interviewing and surveying students, faculty and staff departments, organizations and administration and then compiling a formative report. The data may support future initiatives, symposiums, and resource applications.

Undergraduate Research Fellowships (URF) provide a research experience for undergraduate students and assist staff in the Division of Student Life in conducting research projects in support of student success. Students in the fellowship are expected to work approximately 10 hours a week and will be given a $1,000 scholarship. A fellowship is not considered student employment and will not be counted toward the 20 hour employment restriction.
